CVE-2026-80828Hinoki check available

USB audio service loss via skipped resume cleanup

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

Denial of service in affected Linux kernel releases allows attackers to leave a USB audio card unusable until reboot after a failed resume. The usb_audio_resume() error path in sound/usb/card.c bypasses D0 restoration and fails to decrement chip->num_suspended_intf after component resume errors. Reachability requires a USB audio system-resume failure; the stranded suspend count leaves control access blocked in snd_power_ref_and_wait(), without reported effects beyond the audio device.
