CVE-2026-80801

Out-of-bounds read via truncated NFC discovery payloads

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

An out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel branches from 3.9 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via malformed NFC discovery data. The microread_target_discovered() parser selects fixed offsets by HCI gate and reads or copies UID bytes from skb->data after checking only destination-buffer capacity, not the received skb length. Reachability requires a microread NFC controller to deliver target-discovery data; public sources do not establish attacker control or a concrete consequence.
