Adjacent out-of-bounds read via malformed LLCP TLV
Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel NFC LLCP parser allows physically proximate attackers to access memory past an skb via malformed frames. nfc_llcp_connect_sn() reads TLV headers and declared values without checking the skb boundary, and a short frame can underflow its size calculation before memcmp() consumes the returned pointer. Reachability requires an unauthenticated nearby NFC device; the record establishes an invalid kernel-memory read but reports neither data disclosure nor code execution.
