CVE-2026-80799Hinoki check available

Kernel crash or hang via malformed NFC TLVs

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Linux NFC LLCP parsers allow physically proximate attackers to crash or hang affected kernels via crafted TLVs. nfc_llcp_parse_gb_tlv() and nfc_llcp_parse_connection_tlv() use an 8-bit offset for a 16-bit buffer length and read TLV headers and values without verifying the remaining buffer size. An unauthenticated NFC peer can supply the general bytes directly; exposure requires an active NFC LLCP path, and the bounded consequence is a kernel hang or crash.
