CVE-2026-80754

Out-of-bounds access via misassigned transmitter electrode count

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux synaptics-rmi4 driver allows attackers to trigger invalid memory access through F54 diagnostics. The F55 detection path copies the receiver-electrode count into the transmitter-count fields, causing F54 to calculate an oversized diagnostic report and access beyond its buffer. Exposure requires a Synaptics RMI4 device with more RX than TX electrodes; the published record does not specify whether the access causes a read, write, crash, or hang.
