Kernel fault via missing SPI driver data
Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernel releases causes a kernel fault when the psxpad-spi driver handles device suspend. psxpad_spi_probe() fails to attach the allocated controller state to the SPI device, so psxpad_spi_suspend() retrieves NULL and passes it to motor shutdown handling. Reachability requires the psxpad-spi driver, an SPI-connected PlayStation 1/2 controller, and a suspend event; the record establishes neither a remote trigger nor a guaranteed whole-system crash.
