CVE-2026-80726Hinoki check available

Host kernel memory corruption via invalid shadow pages

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

A use-after-free in Linux KVM allows local users with KVM access to corrupt host-kernel memory during virtual-machine execution. When __kvm_mmu_get_shadow_page derives a child role from an invalid parent, it preserves role.invalid and places an invalid shadow page on the active MMU list; __kvm_mmu_prepare_zap_page later uses list_add instead of moving the entry, producing a use-after-free. Triggering the flaw requires the x86 shadow-MMU path and an invalid or obsolete parent root; the published reproducer demonstrates an eight-byte invalid write.
