CVE-2026-80717Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Receive-buffer disclosure via short SCTP Adaptation parameter

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation allows remote attackers to disclose four receive-buffer tail bytes via a malformed INIT. sctp_verify_param accepts a header-only Adaptation Indication, after which sctp_process_param reads the absent 32-bit adaptation_ind field beyond its declared length. An SCTP endpoint must process the crafted parameter as the last INIT parameter, and the four bytes are returned in the INIT ACK state cookie.
