Use-after-free via linked PCM stream unlink
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel ALSA PCM subsystem allows local users to leave a stack wait entry reachable through linked streams. snd_pcm_drain() conditionally skips finish_wait() after concurrent group unlinking, so runtime->sleep retains an entry after its stack frame is freed. Triggering requires linked PCM streams plus an unlink during a signal or timeout; a later wake traverses the freed frame, but no privilege escalation is established.
