Local information disclosure via uninitialized battery status
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Use of an uninitialized value in Linux 6.7 allows local users to read an uninitialized value through the MAX17040 battery status. max17040_get_property() ignores -ENODEV from power_supply_get_property_from_supplier() and returns success without initializing the STATUS output. Exposure requires a MAX17040 fuel gauge with no charger supplier relationship in firmware, and the disclosed value is limited to the battery status response.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
