CVE-2026-80684

Host crash via unchecked AIBV allocation failure

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Denial of service in KVM s390 PCI in affected Linux revisions allows attackers to crash the host kernel during AIBV setup. kvm_s390_pci_aif_enable() stores the unchecked result of airq_iv_create() in zdev->aibv, which kvm_zpci_set_airq() then dereferences after allocation failure. Reachability requires an s390 KVM host configuring PCI adapter interrupt forwarding; the documented consequence is a host-kernel NULL dereference, not data access or code execution.
