Authenticated device reboot via unauthorized reset endpoint
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Improper authorization in Hitachi Energy RTU500 Series CMU Firmware from 9.0 to before 12.0 lets remote authenticated users reboot RTUs. The RTU500 web application's reset endpoint accepts a reboot request from an authenticated account without enforcing authorization for that operation. Exploitation requires a valid account and access to the RTU web interface; the reboot temporarily interrupts device operation.
