CVE-2026-80664

Kernel crash via unsupported xt_nat family

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

NULL-pointer dereference in Linux netfilter xt_nat allows local users to crash the kernel through a bridge-family nft_compat rule. The SNAT and DNAT handlers accept an unsupported family, assume IP-family conntrack state exists, and dereference absent state in nf_nat_setup_info(). Triggering it requires permission to install nftables compatibility rules and the relevant xt_nat, conntrack, and bridge-family support.
