Kernel warning via stale SAS device link
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Race condition in the hisi_sas v3 hardware driver in Linux 5.10 allows local users to trigger a kernel warning during driver removal. During a remote SAS PHY link reset, device_links_driver_bound marks the device link DL_STATE_AVAILABLE, but driver removal reaches __device_links_no_driver before the link is removed. Triggering the warning requires administrative module removal to race with the PHY reset; the published record reports no crash or privilege gain.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
