Wi-Fi disruption via repeated cipher-list decrement
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 7.0 allows local users to trigger endless wlcore hardware recovery when wl128x Wi-Fi connects to an access point. wl12xx_init_fw checks only a firmware-version field and repeatedly decrements wiphy->n_cipher_suites across boots instead of assigning a chip-appropriate cipher count. The condition requires wl12xx hardware and affected firmware; failed key installation then cycles the wireless interface through recovery and restart.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
