Kernel panic via misbounded refcount-record clearing
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux 6.19 allows local users to trigger a kernel panic by unlinking a refcounted file on OCFS2. In ocfs2_remove_refcount_extent(), a bulk memset uses rf_records after its count field has been aliased to a zero tree-depth value, so the write exceeds the member's 16-byte bound. The path requires a refcounted OCFS2 file whose final leaf block is removed; successful triggering interrupts the host through the fortify panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
