CVE-2026-80636

Kernel crash via disabled conntrack extension dereference

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel netfilter conntrack allows attackers to crash the kernel through unconfirmed connections. The extension generation-ID logic disables every conntrack extension for an unconfirmed entry, while other conntrack code dereferences the resulting NULL extension pointer without checking it. Reachability requires creation or processing of an unconfirmed conntrack; published kernel material does not identify the precise traffic pattern or required privileges.
