Trace disruption via lost CoreSight state
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Incorrect state preservation in Linux kernel 5.13 allows local users to interrupt CoreSight tracing during CPU power down. The CoreSight ETE setup leaves save_state disabled for system-register ETMs on ACPI boots and relies on an undocumented device-tree property, so power loss discards trace-register context; probing also writes shared configuration without isolating device settings. The condition requires Arm CoreSight ETE or system-register ETM, CPU power management, and an ACPI boot or missing device-tree opt-in; it can interrupt tracing with a claim-tag warning.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
