Kernel warning via fortified tunnel metadata copy
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Fortify size miscalculation in Linux 7.0 triggers a kernel warning when Geneve transmits tunnel metadata containing options. In tun_dst_unclone, fortified memcpy measures only the 96-byte tun_info member while copying 104 bytes that include valid flexible-array storage. The allocation is large enough, so no real overwrite occurs; the warning requires a Clang build with source fortification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
