Kernel crash via premature EMAC IRQ registration
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the IBM EMAC driver in Linux 6.12 allows an early hardware interrupt to crash the kernel during device probing. emac_probe() registers the IRQ before devm_platform_ioremap_resource() maps dev->emacp, so emac_irq() can dereference NULL. Reachability requires affected IBM EMAC hardware and an interrupt during the probe window; no attacker-controlled trigger has been documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
