CVE-2026-80600

Unsafe memory access via stale DHCPACK source pointer

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel batman-adv DAT code allows attackers to trigger unsafe memory access with a crafted DHCPACK mesh packet. The batadv_dat_snoop_incoming_dhcp_ack function retains ethhdr before batadv_dat_get_vid calls pskb_may_pull, then reads h_source through the stale pointer if the skb buffer moves. The path is reached only when the distributed ARP table is enabled and a packet passes DHCPACK validation; no more specific consequence has been published.
