CVE-2026-80599Hinoki check available

Kernel buffer overread via truncated Ethernet header

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel batman-adv DAT code allows attackers to read beyond a truncated Ethernet frame buffer. The batadv_dat_get_vid() path calls batadv_get_vid() without first ensuring that the Ethernet header protocol field is present in accessible packet data. The public record does not identify a reachable attacker-controlled packet path or establish whether the overread discloses data, crashes the kernel, or has another effect.
