Kernel crash via missing MTD parent linkage
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux vmu-flash MTD driver allows attackers to crash the kernel while a Dreamcast VMU is probed. vmu_queryblocks leaves the embedded mtd_info device without a parent before MTD registration dereferences that missing link. The path requires CONFIG_MTD_VMU and physical Dreamcast VMU probing, limiting the consequence to a kernel availability interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
