CVE-2026-80583

Kernel memory corruption via oversized enum access

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to corrupt control data through LPASS TX audio ioctls. The tx_macro_dec_mode_get() and tx_macro_dec_mode_put() callbacks access a four-byte enumerated item through an eight-byte integer member, reading or writing four bytes beyond it. Access to /dev/snd/controlC* on a 64-bit system with the Qualcomm LPASS TX driver is required; the overwrite can corrupt control values and interrupt audio capture.
