Kernel memory corruption via resized F54 reports
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in the Linux kernel allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through Synaptics RMI4 F54 V4L2 ioctls. rmi_f54_buffer_queue() copies the current, enlarged report into V4L2 buffers sized for the report type selected when streaming began. Access to /dev/v4l-touch* is required; the overwrite can expose or corrupt adjacent kernel memory and cause code execution or a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
