Local denial of service via missing adjfine callback
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel gve driver 6.17 allows local users to crash the system through a PTP adjustment. The driver registers a PTP clock without an adjfine callback, so ptp_clock_adjtime follows a NULL function pointer when that adjustment is requested. Access to an affected Google gVNIC PTP device and permission to adjust its clock are required; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
