CVE-2026-80561Network attack vector

Kernel memory disclosure or crash via unsafe decoding

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Linux kernel libceph allow remote attackers to disclose kernel memory or crash Ceph clients via crafted OSD replies. In decode_locker(), unchecked copies, pointer advances, and a length decode move the cursor beyond the validated cls_lock_client.c buffer. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised OSD session and a client request for lock.get_info, such as automatic RBD exclusive-lock acquisition.
