CVE-2026-80545

Kernel crash via malformed EP11 CPRB lengths

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Buffer overflow in the Linux kernel 7.1 allows local users to crash the system by submitting a crafted EP11 CPRB message. xcrb_msg_to_type6_ep11cprb_msgx() copies undersized userspace structures and overlays ASN.1 payload fields without validating bounds, while overflow-prone CEIL4 alignment can bypass later size checks. Exploitation requires local access to an s390 system whose zcrypt driver can process EP11 requests; the bounded demonstrated impact is a kernel crash.
