CVE-2026-80541

Local system crash via invalid GEM domains

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Reachable assertion in the Linux kernel's AMDGPU driver allows local users to crash the system through a crafted GEM_CREATE ioctl. amdgpu_gem_create_ioctl accepts incompatible memory-domain flags, causing amdgpu_bo_placement_from_domain to overrun its three-entry placements array before BUG_ON terminates the kernel. Exploitation requires access to a local AMDGPU render node and interrupts the entire host rather than only the attacking process.
