CVE-2026-80539

Local denial of service via leaked BO references

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Resource leak in the AMDGPU driver in Linux allows local users to exhaust memory through a command submission with repeated FENCE chunks. amdgpu_cs_pass1() accepts duplicate AMDGPU_CHUNK_ID_FENCE entries, and the second amdgpu_cs_p1_user_fence() call overwrites p->uf_bo without releasing the first BO reference. Access to an AMDGPU device and local low-privilege execution are required; repeated submissions retain memory beyond handle close and process exit, causing service interruption through resource exhaustion.
