CVE-2026-80489Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Application hang via uncleared pending conversion state

Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026

Denial of service in glibc 2.3 through 2.44 allows remote attackers to hang calling applications via crafted EUC_JISX0213 input. The euc-jisx0213.c converter emits a saved second code point after E2BIG but does not clear the pending state, so retries repeat output without consuming input. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled text, the uncommon EUC_JISX0213 path, an output buffer that splits a two-code-point result, and a retry after E2BIG.
