Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode subject attribute
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Stored XSS in paulpela's email-shortcode plugin 0.91 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject browser scripts via the subject attribute. The shortcode handler inserts the untrusted subject value into a generated mailto link without input sanitization or HTML output escaping. Contributor access is required, and opening an affected page executes the stored script in a visitor browser.
