File disclosure via premature drag-data requests
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Missing authorization in kitty 0.47.0 through 0.48.2 allows context-dependent attackers to read dragged files before a drop. drop_enqueue_request() serves offered drag data without checking the window's drop state, while drop_left_child() retains pending transfer resources after the drag leaves. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled terminal client and a user to move a file over its window; the client receives file contents even without a completed drop.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
