CVE-2026-80211Network attack vector

Password recovery via unsalted MD5 storage

Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Weak password hashing in FrontAccounting 2.4.20 and earlier allows attackers to recover user passwords offline from database digests. Password creation, change, reset, and authentication paths apply raw MD5 without per-password salts or adaptive work factors. Exploitation requires prior access to the user table; identical passwords then share digests that support precomputed lookup and high-rate GPU cracking.
