Stored script execution via Markdown HTML processing
Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026
Stored XSS in Apache Allura 1.20.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in a viewer's browser via crafted Markdown. The Markdown HTML renderer retains executable SVG content from stored attacker-supplied markup instead of excluding that element class. Exploitation requires permission to save Markdown-bearing content and a user to view the rendered page; Apache has not disclosed the exact parser flaw.
