Privilege escalation via predictable session tokens
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Authentication bypass in all firmware for Lantronix out-of-band appliances allows remote attackers to elevate privileges through the web portal. Tokens are derived deterministically from the device model and current second, while crafted URI extension handling bypasses source-address and User-Agent checks. Portal access and an active logged-in session are required; successful exploitation grants elevated control and can affect serial-attached devices.
