Root command execution via unsanitized EEPROM parameter
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
OS command injection in affected Lantronix SLC, SLB, and EMG firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands as root. The undocumented mfc eeprom read CLI command sends an unsanitized parameter to system(), allowing shell metacharacters to alter the executed command. Any terminal or CLI account reaches the flaw, granting full control of the appliance and potentially its serial-attached devices.
