Out-of-bounds reads in GIMP's file-xwd plugin on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9 allow attackers to crash GIMP or expose heap data. The loader validates image width and bytes-per-line separately, permitting their combined layout to exceed the allocated heap buffer during XWD decoding. Exploitation requires a user to open a crafted local image; effects are limited to an application crash or heap bytes copied into output.
