Privilege escalation via untrusted account identifier claims
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
Authentication bypass in Microsoft Identity Web before 4.16.1 allows remote authenticated users to elevate privileges via sign-in data. The web-app sign-in handlers derive uid/utid token-cache identifier claims from front-channel client_info rather than the redeemed token. Exposure involves applications using user sign-in and per-user token acquisition, where inconsistent account identifiers undermine token-cache isolation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
