Remote code execution via double free
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Double free in Microsoft Office Word allows remote attackers to execute code through malicious content that a user opens. Microsoft identifies the memory-management error as a double free but has not disclosed the parser, file structure, or code path that releases the same allocation twice. Exploitation requires user interaction and can run attacker-controlled code with the privileges of the affected Office process.
