CVE-2026-80047Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Unauthorized file write via pre-consent module caching

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

Arbitrary file write in Hugging Face Transformers 4.49.0 through 5.8.1 allows remote attackers to persist Python files via model loading. GenerativePreTrainedModel.load_custom_generate() calls get_cached_module_file() before resolve_trust_remote_code(), unconditionally copying custom_generate/generate.py into the local module cache. Loading an attacker-controlled model repository is sufficient; execution remains consent-gated, but the cached file persists and can collide with later trusted loads.
