Cross-account email-change cancellation via unchecked ownership
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Broken access control in WPEverest User Registration & Membership before 5.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to cancel others' email changes. The cancellation handler accepts a target account identifier without verifying that it matches the logged-in user, then clears that account's pending change. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the bounded impact is disruption of another user's in-progress email update, including an administrator's.
