Unauthenticated znode deletion via unchecked deleteContainer opcode
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Authorization bypass in Apache ZooKeeper 3.8.0 through 3.8.6 and 3.9.0 through 3.9.5 allows remote attackers to delete empty znodes. The deleteContainer request path accepts raw opcode 20 without the session and DELETE ACL checks enforced for ordinary deletion. Any client able to open a TCP session on the client port can remove empty persistent, container, or TTL nodes despite restrictive ACLs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
