Authenticated root command execution via credential injection
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Command injection in KubeOperator MaxKB before 2.10.5-lts allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root. The _update_aws_credentials function interpolates control characters from Bedrock access keys into /root/.aws/credentials, allowing an injected credential_process profile. Workspace membership and two model-validation requests are required; the second makes botocore run the profile command with the web process's root privileges.
