CVE-2026-79902

Application crash via unchecked stack VLA allocation

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026

Integer overflow in GIMP 3.1.4 and later allows attackers to crash the application by opening a crafted Seattle FilmWorks image. The Seattle FilmWorks plug-in uses unchecked image-derived arithmetic to size a variable-length array on the stack, allowing an unbounded allocation. A user must process the malicious file, and the documented consequence is termination of that GIMP process without confidentiality or integrity impact.
