Authenticated information disclosure via panic stack traces

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Information disclosure in rclone before 1.75.0 allows remote authenticated users to read runtime details through RC API errors. The job runner places debug.Stack output in its error field after recovering a panic, and the field is returned in the HTTP JSON response. Exploitation requires high-privilege RC API access and a request that triggers a recovered panic; exposed data includes paths, versions, goroutine state, memory addresses, and an unparsable file line.
