File writes via application archive path traversal
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Path traversal in IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty allows local users to write files outside intended directories via application archives. Application archive handling fails to confine writes to the intended directory; IBM does not identify the responsible function. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and a crafted archive, with file modification rather than disclosed code execution as the established consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
