Path traversal in sos clean on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 through 10 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a crafted tar archive. The extract_archive() function validates only tar member names, then extractall() follows unchecked symlink or hardlink targets outside the destination. Exploitation requires an operator to process the archive, and files are written with the sos clean process privileges, commonly root.
