Host privilege escalation via unmapped page-table reads
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Privilege escalation in Xen's x86 XPTI handling allows guest OS users to gain host privileges via guest-chosen page tables. XPTI reads guest root page tables through a directmap that does not cover RAM beyond 5 TiB, or 3.5 TiB with CONFIG_BIGMEM=y. Exposure requires 64-bit PV guests and RAM above that boundary; cross-guest disclosure and host-wide denial of service are also reported, without a specified interruption mode.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
