Application crash via NULL parser string pointer
Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Prism parser in mruby 4.0.0 allows attackers to crash an application via crafted Ruby source. The parser passes a NULL pointer derived from malformed source to string-handling functions whose contracts require a non-NULL argument. The crash requires an application to parse the crafted source and interrupts that application without a reported data-access impact.
